Child Care Provider Compensation Data Notes for Connecticut

Data Notes

The data in the compensation story comes from the Connecticut Early Childhood Professional Registry. The Registry is a voluntary statewide database that tracks professional development and employment experience. It is open to teaching staff, program administrators, and other staff of Connecticut’s early care and education programs across settings (i.e., Board of Education, community-based, family child care). The data does not represent every child care professional in the state.

Some of the provider categories had very small sample sizes. For example, Connecticut has less than 24 group homes statewide. OEC funded programs for that type were excluded due to very low sample size. The OEC began funding licensed family child care homes in 2023. There were 40 funded family homes at the time the data was collected. This resulted in a small sample size for that category.

New legislation will expand funding to every part of the state, not only those identified by previous metrics for need. This might increase the amount of county-level data available in the future.

The Registry does not collect information about benefits received by the child care workforce.
