Data Notes
The data in the compensation story comes from the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) 2024 Cost of Quality Child Care and Market Rate Study. Of the 5,779 providers in the state who were invited to participate in the survey, 1,398 (24%) responded. As such, the data does not represent every child care professional in the state.
This data includes statewide averages and does not reflect regional pay differences. Rates may vary based on geographical location.
Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP) and Head Start are included with child care centers in this analysis. These positions may receive more benefits than other child care center staff due to state or federal funding requirements.
